| Hola, Queridos Amigos! Quick update on my life, no I haven´t fallen off the face of the Earth.... Today is Day 12 of my life back in Madrid, Spain. I actually had a pretty eventful summer because while I was home for two months, I worked two jobs, stayed with my wonderful family in Wichita, Kansas and visited my college, high school and middle school friends! September kind of flew by for me. *Sept 5th-7th: I went to Kansas City with my best friends Alisha and Kimmy! We hadn´t seen each other since Alisha got married last June 2006. Nowadays, we´re all in different locations: Alisha in Cincinnatti, Ohio; Kim in Kansas City and soon-to-be Atlanta, Georgia; Izzy in Madrid, Spain. *Sept 8th, I went and worked for Abuelo´s at Zoobilee in the Sedgwick County Zoo and let me tell it was quite an experience! Pics soon-to-be-posted. *Sept 14th-20th: I visited my best friend Ashley Wilhite in New York City!!! She started grad school at Columbia University this fall and I decided to pay her a visit. In those six days, I crammed in as much sightseeing as possible: the Statue of Liberty, Chinatown, Little Italy, shopping along Broadway & SoHo, the United Nations, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building as well as several cute restaurants unique to NYC! My friend Molly joined me and we all stayed with Ashley. Let me just tell you, there was never a dull moment on this trip! Sooo many good memories! *Sept 20th: I returned to Madrid, Spain (after making SEVERAL connections). Next time, I think I might just pay the price and fly a more direct route because I was EXHAUSTED when I finally landed in Spain. *Sept 21st: I found a cute apartment! Unfortunately, I wasn´t able to move in til this past Saturday, Sept 29th. In the meantime, I stayed at a fun youth hostel and made friends with several American and British Language Assistants who are also in my program. I was also working everyday last week as an Orientation Organizer, which included making 400+ information packets for everyone in my Madrid Auxiliar program. So, here we are in October and today is my first day of work back at my school, Virgen del Consuelo. I should have done a test-run of my commute to my school because my new location in Madrid should cut down on the 90 minute commute from last year, but it still took a few more minutes than I thought. I think walking could have been a faster option, but it was raining today and I don´t have my umbrella because I left it with my friend Moraine... Okay, so I think I owe you all pics from Kansas City, Zoobilee, New York City and Spain (especially pics from my new flat!) Yes, I´m slowly converting back to British English. Here´s my traveling itinerary, thus far: Oct 12th-14th: Barcelona, Spain with Jenna! Oct 25th-27th: Rome, Italy with Janelle! Nov 2nd: my Northern Irish friend Nuala comes to Madrid! Other potential hot spots: -Amsterdam, Netherlands -Berlin, Germany -cruise through the Greek Islands -Budapest, Hungary and all over Spain (Valencia, Ibiza, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Cádiz, Córdoba) Whew!
